The Pousada de Amares in Santa Maria do Bouro is located in Northern Region. This Pousada has been fully recovered and transformed by the architect Souto Moura in 1997. The building is a former convent dating from the twelfth century by the Cistercian Order, and had 32 cells that have been converted into guest rooms. A major attraction is the fireplace in the dining room of the monks. The monastery reveal the severity but it is also modern and comfortable inside.
The Pousada has 2 suites, 2 meeting rooms with a capacity for 120 people, a private car park and outdoor swimming pool. The landscape is relaxing. The area also allows the discovery of the region on foot, by bike or horseback riding. Provides various sporting activities, motorcycles, sports adventure, water sports, horseback riding, skiing, paint-ball, para–sailing and fishing.
