Figueira da Foz is the city where the river Mondego which born in Serra da Estrela, the only river which born in Portugal and drain into the Ocean Atlantic.
This is a very beautiful city and here you meet the greatest of beach, mountain and river all in one place.
The city name have many stories but my favorite one is the name Figueira which means fig tree and Foz which means mouth, so in the ancient times the fisher men use a fig tree which was near the port to tie up their boats, so when ever someone ask them where do they go, they will said to the Fig Mouth or in portuguese Figueira da Foz.
The City is full of activities and sightseeing’s, you can get a walk in the beach or even get a bath, see animal all over the rocks, make a tour in the mountain or even a tour in the river Mondego, visit the museums, or visit the salt productions, etc.
There are so many things to do our to see as you which this is the village that you never get bored, you can really have a relax holidays or a very active ones is all up to you. For the evening you have many good places to dinner great and fresh fish and also the Casino where there many events happening during all year.
The village is in between Lisbon and Oporto, so you can choose where do you want to land.
