Lisbon Oceanarium or Oceanário de Lisboa, is located in Parque das Nações, and was created for the exhibition of EXPO 98.
Lisbon Oceanarium is the biggest indoor aquarium in Europe and it has 1 big tank in the middle and 4 smaller tanks around the bigger one. The are around 450 species and round about 16 000 individuals. You will find in the Lisbon Oceanarium penguins, sharks, rays, seahorses, sea anemones, starfish, etc.
There are also many activities during all year like Birthday Parties, Guide Tours, Concert for babies and also sleeping with sharks.
If you love the sea and you want to be part of the protection of sea species you can join the Ocenário Club. The Lisbon Oceanarium has many programs where they work with a lot of professional to study and all improve the relationships between humans and animal and also creating a understanding about ecosystems.
This is a great opportunity to all of us, to learn more about the sea and to interact with animals that we do not see every days. This place is magical and the kids and adults can learn and have joy at the same time, it’s really worth a visit!
There are so many program associated with Lisbon Oceanarium but there is one very special and very interesting to me, and that is the SOS Ocean Booklet. This is a program created for you understand what are the fishes that you should eat and also order when you living or visiting Portugal.
You can spend hours in the Lisbon Oceanarium so make sure that you bring time with you!
